Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun, or Sol, the star in Earth's Solar System.
Novels
Miranda is a dry moon and a supply station. "For the next hour Petersen droned on about the supply station at the Uranian moon, Miranda, where Red Dwarf was due to stop off for supplies in seven weeks. It was to be their only shore leave between Saturn and Triton, and Petersen was telling him what a great time they were going to have." ... "[Lister's] only relief from the Kochanski blues had been three days' planet leave on the alcohol-dry Uranian moon, Miranda, when Red Dwarf had docked for supplies. Three days drinking cola and playing video machines with Petersen. Petersen, who'd got drunk every night of his life since he was twelve, was so thrilled with the benefits of being sober, he'd gone teetotal overnight." (Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers)
It is stated, "The study group from Uranus hinged its case on its natural stores of mineral deposits." (Better Than Life)
Lister also mentions Uranus in an idiom. "It's not going to work. I promise you, it's not going to work. No way, José, not in a month of Uranian Sundays." (Better Than Life)
Talky Toaster and Frankenstein were both purchased from the Uranian moon of Miranda. This runs contrary to the TV canon of Frankenstein being from Mimas.
- "One particular item in this collection was a talking toaster, which he'd bought in a souvenir shop on the Uranian moon of Miranda for the princely sum of $£19.99 plus tax." (Better Than Life)
- "When Red Dwarf had stopped for supplies at Miranda, [Lister]'d spent the last afternoon of his three-day ship leave and all his wages buying the smallest, healthiest animal with the best pedigree he could find. For three thousand dollarpounds he'd purchased a black long haired cat with the show name Frankenstein." (Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers)
